An engraved tooth attributed to the BANKNOTE engraver has surfaced with both sides engraved with explicit pornographic renderings. It has been purchased by a top collector and I have personally examined the tooth - it certainly appears to be genuine and dates circa 1830's. The detailed renderings are of a nature that must have been shocking to the Victorian mind but hardly an eye flicker today as compared to what comes in spam email. The engraver is noted for his many proper family and naval battle scenes - now we know that his range of interests was certainly much broader. I suggest that the tooth was engraved for a bordello and if so, what a life it has seen. |
