 Antique scrimshaw seal with carved whale ivory handle circa 1840. The top is inlaid with a tortoise shell and abalone design. The seal is deeply engraved with: a standing allegorical figure of Liberty holding the cap and pole. Engraved around the edge is "DEPARTEMT DE LA SEINE INFERIEURE BATAILLON AUXILLIAIRE". Excellent condition. Size: 3 inches tall.
