 Rare carved wooden seal/stamp marked "NEWFANE Div. No.396 SofT.INSTd JUNE 12 1848". (Newfane Division No. 396, Sons of Temperance, Instituted June 12, 1848) In the center is a whaling scene with a large spouting whale and a ship in the background. On the reverse are initials Lockport, NY. Excellent condition. Size: 1.65 x 1.65 inches.
