Antique Sperm Whale Tooth with beautifully written scrimshaw memorial to Charles George Dewey.
Charles George Dewey - Born May 29th, 1808. Left Bombay in the ship Sax Gotha June 1842. Calcutta August 1842, Sangor, September 30th 1842. Since which time no tidings have been heard of either the ship crew or passengers.
Polished on engraved side and raw on reverse. Measures 6" long. Great condition. American circa 1845. SOLD
