Choice antique scrimshaw tooth from Provincetown

A rare and choice antique scrimshaw sperm whale's tooth engraved with a sailor and his "dance-gal" and the reverse and elaborate depiction of the cutting-in process on a whaleship. The size is an impressive 8.80 inches long. The condition is very good with an old base chip and some very minor cracks. The detailed depictions are very accurate and well done.
