Antique temple style whaling harpoon marked: J.D. (James Durfee, New Bedford), S H A (Ship Henry Astor), and L B for larboard boat. Good condition with original surface. Measures 34-1/2" long.

James Durfee  (1766 - 1850) operated a blacksmith shop in New Bedford from 1800 to 1845). The ship Henry Astor made whaling voyages from Hudson NY and Nantucket 1831 to 1848.
