Antique Scrimshaw Seam Rubber

Antique scrimshaw seam rubber. Sailor's made and used these to assist in folding / creasing the sails. This great example is made from walrus ivory and features a nice tapered handle with finely turned concentric rings. Original surface has a very desirable butter colored patina. American circa 1875. Measures 4-3/4" long.
