A rare and important American scrimshaw silk swift with its original painted and grained dovetailed box circa 1850. Old hand-written paper label with possible Nantucket history Superbly constructed of whale ivory, whalebone, tortoise shell and silver. Very good condition with some minor repairs to ribs.
