Rare Antique Scrimshaw Logbook Stamp

A rare antique scrimshaw whale ivory logbook stamp circa 1850. Marked with the name "Capt. Oze Gendron", "Sperm" for the type of stamp, and "Eliza A" for the ship. Further scrimshawed with two signal flags, edging, and decorative motifs. A compact Sperm whale (with hole to indicated barrels rendered) is carved in relief to make the stamping surface. Measures 15/16" diameter by 1-5/8" tall.
