Vintage Nantucket "Cocktail" Basket Purse by Stephen Gibbs

A charming "Cocktail" size Nantucket Basket Purse by Stephen Gibbs (1896-1974). Made on a 7" by 5-1/4" oval mold circa 1965. The perfect size for a night out! Maker's mark stamped on bottom. Classic carved Sperm whale ornament, knobs, peg, and latch. Basket shows evidence of a hinge and weaver repair, otherwise great condition. Measures 9" wide by 6-1/4" deep by 6" high.
