Huge antique Sperm whale tooth with scrimshawed whaling scene by G. Barreto circa 1900. Depicts an active whale hunt with the whaling town of Lajes Do Pico (Azores) with Pico Mountain in the background. Inscription inside tooth says "Gualter Lajes Pico". Signed in lower right corner. Weighs over 2lbs and measures 8" long. Great condition.
