Antique Scrimshaw Whaleship on Irregular Tooth

Antique Sperm whale tooth with scrimshaw of a whale ship at sea. Ship is running downwind and is using a sprit sail. Unusual formed tooth bears a pointed tip and warped root. This must have given the whale quite a tooth ache! American, circa 1850. Great condition, measures 7-3/4" long and weighs 1lb, 7oz.
