Large Antique Scrimshaw Tooth with U.S. Frigate

An unusually large antique Sperm whale tooth with scrimshaw depicting a broadside view of a U.S. frigate. Also features stern view of an other ship in the distance off the port bow. Finely engraved with polychrome green/blue for the ocean and traces of red in the flag. There are also a few sailors shown in the rigging.

American, circa 1850. Great composition in a classic scrimshaw depiction. Tooth weighs approx 2.5 lbs and is 7-3/4" long.
