Rare pair of antique American scrimshaw teeth
SKU:pmajs17toothA rare pair of antique scrimshaw sperm whale's teeth of American origin circa 1850. The 8.5 inch long tooth is engraved a three-masted ships approaching land and a lighthouse and on the reverse a "VIEW OF JERUSALEM" (after William Bartlett's views of the Mid-East). The other tooth is 7.25 inches long and depicts "CONSTITUTION AND GUERRIERE IN CLOSE ENGAGEMENT" and "VIEW OF THE RUINS BALBE" (after Bartlett) Good condition with several old age cracks. SORRY, SOLD
