Vintage Nantucket Basket Purse by José Formoso Reyes

An early vintage Nantucket Basket purse by José Formoso Reyes (1902-1980) circa 1955. Made from a 6-3/4" by 5-1/4" oval mold and measures 7-1/2" wide overall. Same width as a "cocktail" basket but taller (iPhone Max fits inside). Can be fitted with a carved ornament of your choice. I recommend an ebony sperm whale, contact us for details. Oak formed and carved swing handle. Hinges and latch professionally replaced, great condition with a desirable dark rich patina.
